Solar thermal hot water

During the summer months you can source most of your hot water from your solar panels.

Start saving on your hot water with a solar installation from Absolute Insulation, approved solar installers under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.

The Renewable Heat Incentive scheme, available from July 2011, offers premiums worth around £15m and will be available to 25,000 householders in Great Britain who install renewable energy systems.

Solar pre-installation checklist:

• Property / land is owned by the user, not rented
• Planning permission for solar panels is less clearcut for listed building and properties in conservation areas
• At least 8m2 of roof space is usually required to house panels (1 kWp system)
• Panels must face between south east and south west (via south)
• Roofspace for solar panels should not be shaded by buildings, or trees
